Contact Lens by Need

New research from CIBA VISION® has found that contact lens wearers generally fall into one of four main categories. Each category illustrates specific patient attitudes, behaviors and needs of the contact lens wearer.

Whether you follow your ECP's direction to the letter or tend to wear your contact lenses longer than recommended, knowing which category you fall into will help you and your ECP select the best contact lens to meet your needs.

Challenged but committed

If you are in this category you generally experience routine issues with your eyes as a result of your contact lenses. You love wearing your contacts, but can't always wear them for as long as you'd like due to irritation, redness or general discomfort. Significantly, you don't tend to tell your ECP about your discomfort and may try to remedy the problem with eye drops or re-wetting solutions. If this is you, your ECP is a valuable ally to help support your eye health, and he or she may recommend a change to your current contact lenses to address the problems you're experiencing.

Breakfast to bedtime and beyond

If you wear contact lenses all day and everyday, you are most likely to be in this category. You generally wear your contact lenses while awake and while sleeping. You tend to have more severe vision correction needs and an active lifestyle. If this is you, your optimal lens should provide maximum comfort and breathability for your eyes.

Happy Compliant

If you are in this category, you generally have few to no issues with your contact lenses. You try to follow the advice of your ECP, wear your lenses as instructed and have regular eye exams. However, even though you wear a contact lens that does not cause you to complain, your ECP may be able to optimize your vision by upgrading you to the latest lens to ward off problems with discomfort before they begin.

Sports and social

If you are in this category, you typically wear your lenses for limited periods of time or for specific occasions such as social outings or athletics. Further, when not wearing your contact lenses, you generally don't mind wearing glasses. In this case, your ECP can match your needs with a contact lens to ensure maximum flexibility.
